SPlay (formerly SevimliPlay) is a streaming service with films, series, cartoons, live TV channels and vertical SDrama mini-dramas. Clients: Android, iOS, Android TV, Tizen, webOS, Apple TV and the web.
Since May 2022 I have been the main developer of the server side — the core API, billing, statistics, the video pipeline and the live-TV origin — and of all the infrastructure it runs on. The service is a set of Django services: content and users, billing with its own database, statistics in ClickHouse, a VOD service and a GPU encoder. The library is about 290 TB of HLS on three mirrored origin servers.
What I did
- Core API: catalogue, episodes, collections, TV channels, ads, promo codes, mini-dramas, Elasticsearch search — about 1,450 of 1,790 commits
- Billing: subscriptions and balance, Payme, Click, Atmos, Octo, Paynet, App Store and Google Play purchases
- Custom AES encryption of HLS with short-lived signed links and protection of live channels against restreaming
- GPU encoding (FFmpeg + NVENC): several qualities, preview sprites, encoder metrics
- Live-TV origin: multicast and SRT ingest, GPU transcoding, HLS delivery and a relay to a cable operator
- Viewing and subscription statistics in ClickHouse with daily Telegram reports
- Designed the server architecture and built the whole infrastructure of the service myself
